End the year in style on this 2024 luxury Caribbean cruise that will have you rested, rejuvenated and home in time for Christmas.

Starting with a few days in Miami to reboot after the flight and acclimatise to the warmer temperatures, you’ll then board Oceania Marina; a small ship luxury cruise vessel ideal for culinary connoisseurs and those who seek out the finer things in life.

Your itinerary will take you to some of the Caribbean’s most revered islands, with time to explore during shore excursions that can include hiking to a waterfall in St Lucia, snorkelling in St Barts, and swimming with stingrays in Antigua.

Life onboard is designed to go at a steady pace, with a spa, library and swimming pool for when you can bear to leave your spacious suite or stateroom with its private veranda. Daily afternoon tea is accompanied by a live string quartet, and there is a running track, putting green and fitness suite to ease the guilt of your over-indulgence.

Speaking of which, it’s pretty hard not to indulge in ‘The Finest Cuisine at Sea’ with speciality dining that carries no surcharges with A French Bistro, contemporary Asian, steakhouse and Italian dishes on the menus. Thankfully for balance there is also ‘Vitality Cuisine’ consisting of gourmet plant-based dishes and raw juice and smoothies.

Days at sea can be spent trying fine vintages at a wine tasting, learning new recipes at the expert-led Culinary Centre, letting your creativity loose at the Artist Loft, or attending a guest lecture where you’ll gain a greater knowledge of your next destination.

Each cruise with Oceania is unique, but on this particular itinerary don’t miss the opportunity to hike a volcano in Guadeloupe; take a Caribbean sunset cruise; photograph the colourful streets of Old San Juan in Puerto Rico; glide through the rainforest in a gondola; and bookend your cruise with the beaches and shopping of Ocean Drive.

Itinerary

Begin your luxury cruise holiday with a flight from the UK to Miami in Florida, USA. After passing through immigration and collecting your luggage you’ll be met and taken to your hotel for a two-night stay. Spend your days at your downtown, waterfront hotel’s rooftop pool, or explore the area to experience the bayside with its culinary pop-ups and art shows.
Today you will check out of your hotel, with a transfer by private vehicle to the port to climb aboard the Oceania Marina. Your ship will set sail in the evening, giving you the opportunity to relax and unpack in your room before your first of many incredible dining experiences onboard Marina.
Today is a great opportunity to explore what will be your home on the water for the next eight nights. Browse the duty-free boutiques; book a healing therapy in the Aquamar Spa; have a dip in the saltwater swimming pool; and end the day watching a live show.
Your days spent at sea are an opportunity to indulge your interests and desires without any time pressure. So why not start the day with a treatment at the spa, followed by a smoothie and energy bowl at the Raw Juice & Smoothie Bar? Head afterwards to the Artist Loft, where an expert will guide you through a creative pursuit, before gorging on scones and petits fours at the Horizons’ afternoon tea accompanied by a string quartet.
Your first port of call will be the Caribbean island of Antigua, where a long list of shore excursions will tempt you to explore. The more intrepid will love the helicopter trips over volcanoes and coast. History buffs can take a walking tour of St John’s to see its museum, religious landmarks and diverse architecture. And whether you’re adventuring or chilling during your day on Antigua, a visit to a traditional rum shack is a ‘must’.
You’ll wake up on day seven in time for breakfast before Oceania Marina docks in Castries. Here there are some gentle ways to discover this lush Caribbean island, from the aerial tram gondola through the rainforest canopy, to a sight-seeing tour of Castries on an open-air trolley train. Be sure to make time for a few hours lazing and swimming on St Lucia’s world-famous sands before heading back to the ship for your overnight voyage to Guadeloupe.
Day eight will be spent getting a taste for Guadeloupe, which is known as “Butterfly Island” thanks to its shape. Perhaps you’ll go on a rum distillery tour, dine at a hillside resort with stunning views, or admire the endemic orchids and wading flamingos at the island’s botanical gardens. More energetic pursuits can include snorkelling in waters which Jacques Cousteau praised for their clarity and abundant marine life, and kayaking through mangroves spotting pelicans and iguanas as you paddle.
St Barts is world-renowned for its luxury lifestyle, so we’d recommend treating yourself on your shore excursions here. You could opt for the ‘Heavenly Day in St Barts’ excursion that includes a massage and two-course lunch at a resort in Flamands Bay. Or how about a private sailing and snorkeling trip? You’ll cruise the Leeward coast on a private catamaran, taking in the views and swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the island’s natural marine reserve.
Puerto Rico
The opportunity to explore Puerto Rico is on the itinerary today, starting in Old San Juan with its stunning Spanish colonial buildings and Museum of Art. Next wander through San Cristobal, the largest Spanish-built fort in the New World. Then tour a former sugar plantation to complete your day in Puerto Rico. Back on board Oceania Marina you’ll spend the night travelling to the last port on your itinerary, Puerto Plata.
Dominican Republic
Your final day of Caribbean exploring sees you in the Dominican Republic, where unique experiences await. Visit the Amber Museum with it fossils and insects encased in hardened sap; take a cable car to the summit of Pico Isabel de Torres; plant a coffee tree as part of a local reforestation project; or sightsee from the comfort of a vintage car, ending with a rum tasting.
Today you will be spending your last day onboard the Oceania Marina as you head back to Miami to disembark. Make the most of your final hours on the ship by revisiting some of your favourite experiences; like the 4pm afternoon tea with its fresh scones with clotted cream, or the hydrotherapy pool at the spa. If you haven’t yet found the time, today would be a great opportunity to book a place at The Culinary Centre for an expert-led cooking lesson and some new recipes to take home.
You’ll wake up in the Sunshine State and say farewell to the Oceania team who have looked after you so well during your cruise of the Caribbean. Spend your final day at leisure in Miami, perhaps grabbing lunch on Ocean Drive, before your transfer to the airport for an overnight flight back to the UK.
