Intoxicating African culture comes alive at many of the destinations available for travellers to visit throughout with the Akagera National Park, located in eastern Rwanda. This area provides a unique take on the traditional East African Safari. Although it is quite small compared to other animal parks, it has populations of many African mammals such as elephant, buffalo, hippos, giraffes as well as leopard and lions.
Further to this, there are amazing bird watching opportunities with over 530 species located in the area. Along with this, there are amazing scenic views for visitors to experience of the Nyungwe Forest and Lake Kivu as well as numerous opportunities for both relaxation and exploration.
Best time to visit Rwanda
Rwanda experiences various weather climates throughout the year which should be considered when deciding on the best time to visit. The country experiences long dry and rainy seasons. The long rainy season starts in March and lasts into May, with the shorter second rainy season lasting from October to November. Along with this, the longer dry seasons are from June through to the end of September, with the shorter dry season starting in December and ending in February.
