What’s it Like On Board the Regent Seven Seas Splendor?

When it was christened back in February 2020, Regent Seven Seas Splendor was announced as being ‘luxury perfected’ and one of the world’s most luxurious cruise ships. Boasting stunning interiors, spacious suites and some seriously exciting restaurants, there was little doubt in our minds that it would live up to its name!

After an unexpected year, this beautiful vessel is finally embarking on her inaugural season.

So, of course we had to get a closer look! Our Relationship Manager, Steph Byrne, headed out on board to give us her discerning review…

What was the Boarding Experience Like?

“Boarding was simple with lots of staff available to assist you. Safety was at the forefront, with hand sanitisers placed every couple of metres and everyone asked to wear a mask while we waited for our COVID tests. The testing process was really quick and easy. It took around 15 minutes, and you can use your waiting time to fill in your other documents.”

First Impressions of Regent Seven Seas Splendor?

“My first impression was WOW!

As you walk on, there’s a fabulous chandelier and a sweeping staircase to greet you. It didn’t feel like a ship, but more like a hotel lobby! It’s bright and airy and impeccably clean. No expense was spared with the décor and finishing touches; the mix of colour palette, gold, cream and navy, exudes elegance.

We were welcomed on board with a glass of Champagne and headed over to the Meriden Lounge for our safety demo. This only took around five minutes as everything was done online before we embarked.”

Did You Know?

Regent Seven Seas Splendor features artworks purchased and commissioned from over 200 artists to create a museum-quality collection. You can admire the pieces everywhere across the ship, from your suite to the restaurants, along with over 500 chandeliers!

What was the Accommodation Like?

“I stayed in the Concierge Suite and it was delightful. The bathroom was lovely with L’Occitane products and a large bath. I loved the walk-in wardrobe! I was surpised at how large the balcony was, too; it included a table and chairs along with a large sun lounger with still so much space. The perfect setting for room service breakfast.”

What was the Food and Restaurants Like?

“The food was out of this world! My favourite restaurant was the French restaurant, Chartreuse. The meal was five courses in total, though the steak tartarte with truffle was my favourite dish – I’ve been dreaming about it ever since!

The service was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. For a casual al fresco lunch, I would recommend the Pool Grill. The oysters at lunch were delicious and I also thoroughly enjoyed the lobster nachos. There was such a vast choice of food every day. Dining at Compass Rose was also a highlight, where I tried fillet steak and lobster tail served on Versace dinner plates. Try and get a table by the window for the most romantic views.”

Did You Know?

There are eight expectional dining venues on board Regent Seven Seas Splendor, including the Parisian foodie fantasies at Chartreuse and Pan Asian delights at Pacific Rim. In fitting with the vessel’s fine attention to details, food served at the sophisticated Compass Rose is served on Versace dinnerware.

How was the Service On Board?

“The service was 10/10. The staff simply cannot do enough for you! Everyone greets you as you pass by, everyone smiles. The staff remember which cocktail you prefer, while the sommeliers in the restaurants are so knowledgeable and experienced, we got lost in listening to the interesting stories of their adventures.”

What Were Your Three Personal Highlights From Your Cruise?

“The biggest highlight for me was seeing the Regent Suite. This suite has the most stunning marble bathroom with both a sauna and a steam room. The custom Steinway Grand Maroque piano was a beautiful finishing touch too. If you stay here, you can request for the ship’s pianist to play for you and your guests. Everything about it was done to the detail, down to the Picasso painting on the wall. The wrap-around balcony with a jacuzzi would be the perfect place to watch the sunset with a glass of Champagne.

The culinary class is a must-do when on board. It’s led by the Head Chef, Katheryn, who does a cooking demo for you to watch before you put it into practice yourself! Completely unique, you get to hear all about what inspired the dishes and have the chance to ask your own questions. Some cruises also offer excursions with the chefs, where you can learn more about the local ingredients and how to find the freshest ones.

Afternoon tea in the Median Lounge, was also a lovely experience, with the pianist and the freshly baked pastries and cakes. The selection of teas were brilliant too.”
