What an epic African adventure awaits you on this luxury tour of wilderness and coast with Inspiring Travel. With a real mix of experiences, from big cat viewing to Indian Ocean snorkelling, our team has curated this itinerary so it offers the perfect balance of activities and memories, with downtime and relaxation too.

Your journey begins in Nairobi with a private tour to see orphaned elephants, endangered giraffes and to wander a makers’ market at The Opportunity Factory. From there you’ll head into the Masai Mara for a front-row seat of the landscape used in the filming of Out of Africa. This is one of the best places to stay for wildlife viewing given its lofty position above the plains, and you’ll have an opportunity to see it from a unique vantage point on a hot air balloon ride.

Next stop is to Kimana Sanctuary, where the epic Mount Kilimanjaro provides the backdrop for your stay. Here you can watch elephants come to drink from the water trough that’s placed beneath the lodge swimming pool, as you sip on your local, mojito-style drink. Finally your Grand Kenya Fly-in Safari & Coast tour will end at the beach, where a private villa boasting Indian Ocean views from its verandah awaits.

As well as these epic locations and the seamless journeys between them, this itinerary boasts sublime accommodations, chosen for the authenticity and luxury. In Nairobi you’ll discover Hemingways, a boutique retreat with lush gardens, butler service and views of the Ngong Hills as you tuck into one of their famous afternoon teas. Angama Mara has one of the best landscape views in the world, positioned as it is on the edge of the Oloololo Escarpment with vistas that stretch as far as the eye can see across the Masai Mara set 1,000ft below.

At sister lodge Angama Amboseli, you’ll be wowed by its location below Africa’s highest peak, set within a Fever Tree forest where some of Africa’s last Super Tuskers roam ¬— elephants with tusks so large they drag along the ground as they walk. The pace of your tour will then wind down as you head to your final accommodation at Alfajiri Villas, a dreamy oasis on Diani Beach, and the perfect end to an East Africa safari.

Itinerary

After your international flight from the UK you’ll land into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport where our representatives will meet you for your transfer to Hemingways Nairobi. Here you have been booked in for a two night stay on a bed and breakfast basis. This 45-suite boutique hotel is a relaxing base to begin your African adventure, with its large swimming pool, pristine gardens and a dedicated butler on hand to see to your every whim. Spend your first evening in Kenya sat on your private balcony overlooking the Ngong Hills with a drink from your personalised bar.
Following a hearty breakfast you’ll be collected by your driver-guide for your Taste of Nairobi Tour. The experience starts at the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to see the orphaned elephants; then on to the suburb of Langata where at the AFEW Giraffe Centre you’ll hand-feed the endangered Rothschild giraffe. After a stop at the Karen Blixen Museum your driver will take you to The Opportunity Factory to pick up souvenirs made by local craftspeople. The afternoon is then yours to do as you please back at the hotel: have a swim in the pool, wander the gardens, or indulge with a legendary Hemingways’ traditional afternoon tea.
After breakfast you’ll check-out from Hemingways Nairobi and take a private transfer to Wilson Airport for your scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. On arrival at Mara Kichwa Tembo Airstrip you’ll be welcomed and driven to Angama Mara for your four-night stay in a Tented Suite. The lodge’s remarkable setting overlooks what is deemed by many to be the finest game reserve on the continent, Kenya’s Masai Mara. There'll be a game drive on route to Angama Mara, before lunch at the camp, and then back out for an afternoon game drive.
Your first full day at this epic safari camp is yours to choose how you spend it. You’ll wake up in your Tented Suite with its views of the reserve from its 300m high position above the plains. Start the day with a coffee on your balcony, before heading out for wildlife viewing and photographing of the resident big cats, the seasonal wildebeest migration and the settings used in the filming of Out of Africa. If you fancy being out all day then a picnic lunch can be packed. But before you venture out with your guides, you can drop by at Angama Mara's Photographic Studio for a private tutorial with the onsite wildlife photographer.
What an experience awaits today! On what is sure to be a highlight of your Kenya tour, you will take a half day hot air balloon safari over the Masai Mara. You’ll head out early so as to catch the sunrise from the basket of your balloon, then spend the morning spotting wildlife from your vantage point in the skies, ending with a champagne breakfast in the plains. The rest of your day is at leisure to do as you please, perhaps having a dip in the camp’s swimming pool, or exploring its one-acre kitchen garden. Finish the day with a traditional dawa (local mojito) at the lodge's Sundowner Boma to the sound of Maasai warriors as they perform singing, dancing and jumping.
Your last full day in the Maasai Mara is yours at leisure to soak up precious memories in this awesome landscape. Having been the set for many a wildlife documentary (African Cats, Big Cat Diaries and Planet Earth to name a few), you could head out with a guide to create your own wildlife video. After all, this region is home to prides of lion, solitary leopards, the black rhino and abundant herds of elephant and buffalo. The camp can arrange two picnics so you can spend the whole day out in the Mara, before returning for your final sundowners back at camp.
After your last balcony coffee and à la carte breakfast, you’ll be driven to Mara Kichwa Tembo Airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to Amboseli. On arrival your driver will collect you for a transfer to Angama Amboseli for your two-night stay in a Game Suite. A safari guide will also be in the vehicle during your transfer, for game viewing on your journey to the lodge. Angama Amboseli is a small safari lodge in the heart of Kimana Sanctuary. Kenya’s first community-owned conservancy, the sanctuary is renowned for its remarkable density of wildlife and its famed backdrop: the highest peak in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.
Kimana Sanctuary
A day of once-in-a-lifetime wildlife experiences awaits you in the Kimana Sanctuary, with its savanna woodland and Fever Tree Forests, as well as spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. At Angama Amboseli safari options are tailor-made, so you can pick where and when you want to head out, and what animals you want to track. Don’t miss the elusive leopard and cheetah, warthogs, giraffe, zebra and wildebeest. Back at the camp, the swimming pool has a trough just below it, so you can watch the resident elephant herds drop by for a drink as you cool off in the waters yourself.
Following a hearty breakfast in the camp, you’ll enjoy a final game drive in Amboseli on your transfer to the Amboseli Airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to Diani Ukunda Airstrip. On arrival at Diani Ukunda Airstrip, you’ll be met by a representative from Alfajiri Villas and transferred to check-in to your private villa on Diani Beach for a four-night, fully-inclusive stay.
Safari can be a life-changing experience. For many who experience it, the incredible natural encounters can be moving, thrilling and awe-inspiring. That’s why on this Kenya safari tour our Inspiring Travel Specialists have built in a few days on the coast at the end of your holiday. This is the perfect opportunity to take stock of the safari experience and relax at the end of your travels. Here you can keep the adventures going with diving and dhow excursions, or simply chill in your private villa that’s just a few steps from the beach.
This luxury Kenyan beach resort offers you an authentic experience with a focus on privacy. Your accommodation is in a Beach Villa, located on the shores of Diani Beach. With three bedrooms, this spacious villa is surrounded by palm trees to afford privacy, but with unrestricted views of the Indian Ocean from its verandah. Luxuries include a private infinity pool, 24-hour butler service, your own garden, air con, all meals and beverages (including South African wines and local beers), free access to the spa, snorkelling excursions and use of golf clubs if you want to head inland to one of the nearby courses.
Dining at Alfajiri Beach Villa is “as you please”! So your butler will bring you your chosen dishes and serve them al fresco on your veranda, accompanied with local wines, beers and spirits. Included with your stay is a daily massage in your villa’s gazebo, and don’t miss a G&T at sunset with ocean views. If you fancy something a little more active in the day, you can: board a traditional Swahili Ngalawa boat to access some of the best off-shore snorkelling sites along the Diani coastline followed by a Swahili lunch in a private garden on Wasini Island; you could take a beginner’s kite surfing lesson; or tee off at the world-class 18-hole championship course at Leisure Lodge Golf Resort.
Enjoy your last morning in Diani before lunch in your private villa, after which you’ll be collected for your transfer to Diani Ukunda Airstrip in time for your scheduled flight to Nairobi's Wilson Airport. On arrival at Wilson Airport, our guest representative and driver guide will meet you and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight home to the UK.
