Depart the UK today for your direct flight (from Manchester or London) to Atlanta, Georgia to begin your holiday in 'The Peach State'. Pick up your hire car on arrival into Atlanta airport.

Spend a day in this modern city where shopping and attractions are not to be missed. Explore the underwater world at the world's largest aquarium, see how one of the most famous fizzy drinks in the world came to life, the Coca Cola Museum and delve into the history of the state at the Martin Luther King Junior Historic Site.

Travel today to the town of Savannah. Being the oldest city in the state, this charming town is a lively port town with charming cobbled streets.

Board the trolley tour in Savannah to learn about the history of the city - you might even see actors in costumes appearing on the trolley! Queue early for lunch at the well-known Mrs Wilkes Dining Room where you will sit at one the shared tables and enjoy dishes of fried chicken, sweet potato soufflé and gumbo - a traditional Southern feast.

Head out today to the Golden Isles, Jekyll Island and St Simons are connected to the mainland. Here days on the beach await. Pulling yourself away from the beach, visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Centre; a fun attraction for both families and couples and a great chance to learn about the turtle species. Day 6 Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island, Georgia

Visit the sights on St Simons such as the Island Lighthouse, Fort Frederica & Christ Church to see the remainders of the Fort built by the British to protect themselves against the Spanish. Explore the 100-mile-long coast and the four beautiful barrier islands. Accommodation: Westin Jekyll Island

Day 7 Jekyll Island

A day of pure relaxation by the beach, maybe play a round of golf on one of the championship courses this area is renowned for, or immerse yourself in Georgia’s coastal history at the A.W. Jones Heritage Centre. Accommodation: Westin Jekyll Island

Day 8 Jekyll Island - Atlanta (310 miles)

Drive today back to Atlanta for your flight to the UK or alternatively continue your holiday in the Deep South region perhaps travelling north to the town of Charleston or south into Florida.
