Immerse yourself in the cultural spirit of Thailand, starting in buzzing Bangkok, where golden spires rise above the skyline and longtail boats glide past stilted houses on the Chao Phraya River. Then, step into the pages of history with a day trip to Kanchanaburi to learn the moving stories of WWII prisoners of war who helped build the town’s iconic bridge over the River Kwai.

Journey to the UNESCO-listed Ayutthaya — a city once home to kings, now a haunting collection of crumbling temples and ancient Buddhas wrapped in tree roots – before flying north to Chiang Mai to see a more traditional side of Thailand among the misty mountains and rice paddies. Let it all melt away on the golden sands of Koh Samui, fringed with swaying palms and lapped by turquoise waters – the epitome of tropical escape.

Travel west towards the Burmese border on this moving tour to Kanchanaburi and the Bridge over the River Kwai. Start by viewing the Kanchanaburi waterfalls and the peaceful natural surroundings not far from the town. Then on to Hellfire Pass Interpretive Centre and the Memorial Walking Trail dedicated to the allied POWs and Asian labourers who perished during WWII. A very moving experience.

Now is time for a change of pace, after transferring to Chiang Mai Airport you will fly to Thailand’s second largest island, Koh Samui, which sits in the Gulf of Thailand.
