Full accommodation information
Say ‘Aloha’ to the luxurious Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection, situated in the north-west of Hawaii, the Big Island. The Mauna Lani is the perfect way to experience authentic Hawaii; with five mountains surrounding the resort, and the beach not even a stone's throw away, you can immerse yourself in water sports and indulgent spa treatments or, play a round of golf at one of the world’s most photographed over-the-ocean holes.
Pure relaxation awaits at this hotel. You can start your morning with an ocean swim, as the sun rises over Mauna Kea, and end your day watching the stunning sunset with a cocktail along the beach or by the fire pits.
Mauna Lani is also an incredible resort to celebrate a honeymoon or anniversary, with a whole host of wonderful activities and amenities for couples. Some highlights include a Champagne welcome in your room on arrival, the serene adult pool set among the ancient royal fishponds and several water sports activities that can be enjoyed together, including paddle boarding and snorkelling. For a romantic evening, listen to the waves lapping the shore with a private dinner under the stars, as you dip your toes into the sand.
For keeping active, the resort has its own private water sports facility on site. Kainalu offers daily programmes, so you don't need to leave the hotel to enjoy the Hawaiian waters. Adventure into the water for scuba diving, outrigger canoeing and paddleboarding.
Each day of your stay at the hotel can be enjoyed with numerous activities or simply by enjoying relaxation time at the tranquil beach and pools. If you’d like to learn about the area and get a more detailed look at life on the Big Island, visit Hale'I'ike, the cultural centre located within the hotel. From here, you can join activities including Petroglyph hikes, lei making, historical walking tours and the Malama Honu Turtle Programme.
Stays at Mauna Lani are all about relaxing and centring yourself. One of the best ways is to keep up with your fitness goals, healthy eating, and self-care. The resort's wellness centre and fitness facilities are well placed to help you reach your goals, even when you're on holiday. The spa and fitness centre are open 24-hours and day, and you'll have access to personal trainers, Peloton bikes and a dedicated gym with weights and cardio machines. Afterwards, spend some downtime at the spa with a GOOP facial.
One of the other magnificent highlights of the resorts is the two 18-hole golf courses. SurfShack sits close to the sea and next to the children's pool. This is the home of the Kainalu water sports program; it's also an excellent destination for smaller bites and beverages.
A brilliant spot to grab for a grab and go - coffee and pastry. There is also a New York-style deli which makes delicious sandwiches. Enjoy locally sourced meats, sandwiches, juices, and coffees at the market. The outdoor seating is perfect for catching up on the days' news or planning your days' activities over breakfast.
Activities & Entertainment
Kainalu Water Sports and SurfShack
Water activities are plentiful at Mauna Lani, and you don't need to go off-site to enjoy them. Kainalu, based at the SurfShack, offers a wide range of programmes daily. Why not start the day off with some morning snorkelling or a canoe paddle session? The bay area around the resort is well protected, and there’s a platform in the centre that can be used as a base point for snorkelling further out or sea tanning.
For more of a workout, join in the performance program offered, practice your balance skills with floating yoga, be introduced to underwater rock running, head out with the outrigger canoe, and learn the basics of paddling.
You can also take the opportunity to learn to scuba dive and gain your certification over five to seven days if you'd like.
Hale 'I' Ike
Hale'I'Ike is the Hawaiian cultural centre of the resort. Mauna Lani has a whole team to help guests experience what authentic Hawaii is all about. Danny Akaka and the team will take you through cultural workshops and tell you stories about the island and artefacts and art in the cultural centre. Hale'I'Ike is located to the right as you enter the lobby area – head here to plan excursions to see the Turtle Sanctuary, to learn about Hawaiian music and dance or to join the historic walking tours.
Fitness and Spa
Holidays are a great way to rest and reset, but they're also perfect for restarting or continuing some of those positive habits. Mauna Lani has all the amenities that you'll need to keep up with your healthy habits. There’s a standalone wellness centre and tennis courts, which are great for a pre-adventure workout. Have some fun playing pickleball or get in a few laps in the lap pool.
There is a 24-hour gym in the resort with outdoor Peloton bikes, personal trainers, weights and cardio machines and, after a session in the gym, you can relax your muscles with a Nanea relaxing massage at the Auberge Spa.
Behind the staircase in the lobby is the on-site retail Goop store where you can pick up an assortment of items, including clothing, jewellery and beauty and wellness products.
Mauna Lani is the perfect destination to start your married lives together. The resort takes care of all your needs and gives you the space to focus on making everlasting memories.
There are plenty of things for visiting couples to do in the resort. First up, start your day with a joint sunrise paddle in the bay. Watch the sun come up above the serene Mauna Kea as you feel the gentle waves lapping at your legs.
For the couples that love a little bit of action and adventure on your holidays, take a hike along the Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail, which follows the coastline of the Big Island. This trail network will take you past some of the culturally and historically significant portions of the island.
After a long hike on the trail, head to the Auberge Spa for a couple’s massage, where all the knots and tightness will be replaced with relaxation and tranquillity. For something exceptional to wrap up your first day on the island, enjoy a starlit dinner on the beach or in one of the luxury cabanas. Your chef will customise a four-course meal for you and your loved one.
There are plenty of ways to relax and enjoy each other's company at Mauna Lani and the Big Island. Let our Travel Specialists know what your ideal honeymoon looks like, and we'll make sure everything is in place to make it unforgettable.
For golfing enthusiasts, you'll be spoilt for choice at the Mauna Lani resort. The hotel has two stunningly beautiful 18-hole courses. Play on the South Course as the waves lap up against the rocky outcrops – the South Course was the host venue of the Senior Skins Game from 1990 to 2000 and has seen play from golfing legends including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Lee Trevino.
The North Course is built on a lava bed and is just as impressive as its southern sister. The rolling hills and Kiawe forest make for a genuinely picturesque golf spot.
Beach and Pools
The hotel is situated right in a bay, giving it total access to the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. For a relaxing trip, take an oceanfront wander from the hotel down to Makaiwa Bay. For a memorable trip, you could go on a private excursion on ‘Winona’, the catamaran that sits in the bay for sunset cocktails and appetisers or scuba diving.
If you'd like to stick closer to the resort, there are three fantastic pools to choose from with complete food and beverage service. The resort pool has beautiful views of the Ocean and is surrounded by beautifully manicured lawns. Grab yourself a spot by the pool in the comfy lounge areas and enjoy cocktails from the poolside bar.
The Keiki pool is situated next to the resort pool; this pool is created for the little ones to splash around to their heart's content.
Finally, the adult infinity pool is a calming space surrounded by palm trees. It has beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and is perfect for relaxing and getting some sunshine!
