Full accommodation information

An intimate boutique hotel with only five rooms, your stay at Taylors Hill near the Sri Lankan city of Kandy promises to be something extra special. Set within three acres of lawns and boasting on-site facilities for croquet, badminton and tennis, there’s an old-world charm here that you’ll feel as soon as you arrive.

Set amongst the plantations of the Petiyagama Tea Estate, Taylors Hill is surrounded by lilting valleys and verdant countryside whilst still being in easy driving distance of the cosmopolitan city of Kandy.

A colonial country house whose exterior belies the contemporary decor within, Taylors Hill was built by a British planter over a century ago. The colonial history remains a key part of the hotel’s character (hence the wealth of racquet sports that can be played here) but your stay will be peppered with modern touches.

A day of tennis or exploring the gardens via bike can give way to an evening relaxing by the hotel’s rooftop cabana, where spectacular sunset views warm the vista of the surrounding valley. Once the sun has set, head to Taylors Hill’s on-site restaurant to dine on a feast of freshly produced local cuisine.

Children are very welcome at Taylors Hill, and the hotel is equipped with amenities to keep them entertained during their stay. Babysitting can easily be arranged with a day’s notice; the hotel will be happy to help.

There are only five rooms at Taylors Hill, ensuring that all holidays spent here retain a cosy and boutique atmosphere for their guests. The rooms vary in size, but all have been thoughtfully decorated in unique and distinctive ways. Every room has an en suite bathroom and a seating area, as well as a safety deposit box and hardwood floors. Room service is also available.

Each room is named after a central figure in the local tea trade, adding to the historic reverence this hotel has for its recent past. Here’s what you need to know about the five rooms at Taylors Hill.
