Ben Lomond Station is a 33,000 acre high country station with a long history in farming and gold mining. The station is a short distance from Queenstown, and played a key part in its gold mining history. To begin your day here, you’ll be transported from your accommodation by a luxury 4WD along the winding road that borders Moke Lake and moves onwards into the mountains.
Enjoy the views on this relaxing drive before turning into Ben Lomond Station. Spend your morning exploring the station’s vast landscape, and climb over the ridgeline to admire Shotover River, Mount Dewar and the mighty Skippers Canyon. Then, venture past the station’s stunning hills, lakes and cross several rivers towards Moonlight Lodge. Just as this lodge welcomed over 3,000 gold miners in 1862, it welcomes you to enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch of tasty treats. Here you'll meet up with the owner of the station, John Foster. He'll share insights into the area's farming history, and introduce you to the sheep and farm dogs.
To complete your day, enjoy a leisurely nature walk through Beech Forest, or simply relax before heading back to your accommodation.
