Hotel St Moritz Queenstown – MGallery

Reminiscent of the luxury mountain lodges of the Swiss Alps, Hotel St Moritz – MGallery by Sofitel specialises in inviting interiors, tantalising cuisine and spellbinding views of the lake and snow-dusted mountains beyond.

Full accommodation information

Come summer or winter, the Hotel St Moritz serves as an excellent base for discovering the countless wonders in and around Queenstown, located as it is right in the middle of town for easy access to all the fantastic restaurants, bars and shops.

This boutique-style hotel feels fresh and modern from top to toe, a place of capacious guestrooms and suites dressed in sumptuous tones, all enjoying Lake Wakatipu or garden views.

The best of them feature balconies, so you can get even closer to these captivating surrounds.

Modern art pieces and interesting furniture then punctuate the communal spaces of Hotel St Moritz, accenting the sophisticated air that already permeates this property. Meanwhile, fine dining comes in the form of Lombardi Restaurant – an elegant affair overlooking the lake where quality New Zealand dishes are served – and drinks can be nursed in either Lombardi Bar or the attractive Library, complete with a stone fireplace.

Make the most of any downtime here by strolling through the garden and soaking in one of three hot tubs, a welcome addition to the luxury offerings of Hotel St Moritz.

So whether you’ve spent the day out on a helicopter tour, succumbing to adrenaline-pumping activities or hopping between a clutch of local wineries, the steaming waters are sure to tempt you in.

Hotel St Moritz has a small gym for anyone looking to work out, but the top facility has to be its three hot tubs dotted in the property’s lush gardens. In addition, if you have any sports equipment with you – such as ski gear, you can lock these away in the resort’s dedicated storage facilities.

Queenstown is often called the ‘adventure capital of the world’, so adrenaline junkies will have no problem settling in here. Think canyoning, sky diving, bungy jumping, white-water rafting, paragliding, zip-lining and jet-boating over the Shotover Canyon; or skiing and snowboarding in winter. For something a little slower paced however, you can enjoy golf, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, or ride up the gondola for picture postcard views of the town below you. To slow things down even more, take a tour of one of the local vineyards, dip in thermal pools or simply wander across to Queenstown Gardens. Popular with tourists and locals alike, this lovely part of town provides a peaceful walk through winding paths by the water, that are glorious all year round.
