Full accommodation information

This is thanks to both it's prized setting here in the vine-laden countryside near Cradle Mountain, and also its history, with the property having once served as a private home for Tasmanian nobility nearly 300 years ago.

The mansion has since been wonderfully restored to its former glory, offering a real glimpse into the past with its ornate cornicing and elaborate wall motifs, artworks, gilded antique furnishings, mahogany bookshelves and manicured rose gardens.

The homestead itself also has just 10 exclusive guestrooms, where spa baths and walk-in rain showers, thoughtful amenities and splashes of modern décor meet those nostalgic elements and, in most cases, original architecture too. The Dining Room, however, is a suitably grand affair and unashamedly avoids any 21st century touches apart from the fine-dining food! Here, locally sourced produce and freshly caught Tasmanian seafood rule supreme, and if looking to celebrate something special, then Quamby Estate will arrange a private spot amongst the gardens for your gourmet meal, or perhaps some wine tasting with paired cheeses.

Meanwhile, outside lies a 9-hole golf course on the estate, biking trails and tennis courts for active types, as well as manicured lawns, orchards and rose gardens to enjoy, making for an enchanting stay here at Quamby Estate – with the highlights of the region always close by too.

There are 10 exclusive guestrooms at Quamby Estate, split into three categories: Standard, Superior and Deluxe. The main difference between them is their size, given that each makes use of the building’s original architecture and some, such as those housed in the converted loft, enjoy a larger natural floorplan as a result. Every room is just as superbly comfortable as the next however, with flurries of modernity such as spotlights in the ceiling, walk-in rain showers, flat-screen TVs, a coffee machine and iPod dock coming as standard. All rooms also enjoy a queen, king-size or twin bed setup and, in the higher category rooms, a fireplace and cosy lounge space too.

Standard Room

Standard Room

The Standard Rooms are a little cosy at 160sq ft, yet are just as beautifully decorated and still manage to squeeze in all of the standard Quamby Estate in-room extras.
Superior Room

Superior Room

At 290sq ft the Superior Room is nearly twice the size of its Standard neighbours, meaning more space to spread out, a fireplace, seating area, king-size bed and slightly bigger bathroom.
Deluxe Room

Deluxe Room

Larger still at 410sq ft, Deluxe Rooms also come with a king-size or twin bed setup, a spa bath, lounge space and all other in-room extras – most also enjoy clearer views of the gardens outside.

The onsite facilities at Quamby Estate feel perfectly in line with that wider grand-mansion feel, with a fishing lake and sprawling gardens, tennis courts, 9-hole golf course, and library where you can grab a good book or pop on a DVD; mountain bikes are also complimentary and a great way to see the surrounding region.

The Dining Room

The Dining Room

Quamby Estate is proudly part of the area’s increasingly good gastronomic reputation, as its gourmet in-house restaurant is up there with the very best in this part of Tasmania. It’s fine dining all the way here, always seasonal and often sourced locally to showcase the best Tasmanian products that have either been freshly caught, picked or reared in the surrounding region. What’s more, your five-star meals can be savoured in a range of different settings during your stay at Quamby Estate, whether that be the atmospheric main dining hall or intimacy of a private table for two, in the hotel gardens.

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner

There’s so much to see and do while staying at Quamby Estate, from simply enjoying the surrounding countryside and vineyards to hopping on a mountain bike, or playing a round of golf on the estate. Exploring Cradle Mountain, the Tamar Valley, Marakoopa Cave and Bay of Fires further afield is also fun, while wine and gourmet food experiences are also big in this part of Australia. Both can be enjoyed either amongst the hotel’s gardens and grounds or close by at a neighbouring winery – the choice is yours.
