Hotel information
Phnom Penh can be a bustling place with its busy streets, tourist attractions and popular monuments, which is exactly why La Rose Suites is such an attractive place to retreat to when visiting the city.
This cosy hideaway, tucked as it is down one of the lesser-visited streets in town, prides itself on sheltering guests with a walled garden, swimming pool and sun patio, plus a spa specialising in traditional therapies too; all rare treats for such a central Phnom Penh hotel. What’s more, despite the building’s relatively modest size, guestrooms and suites are in fact extremely spacious, with larger than average floorplans hosting grand four-poster beds, Khmer-inspired furnishings and generous bathrooms with both a tub and walk-in shower.
The style of these rooms, and indeed the rest of the hotel, is a pleasant mix of traditional patterns, ornaments and artwork, with a notably modern edge adding a luxury level or two. So while your writing desk looks antique and picture frames ornate, step into the bathroom and be greeted by walls of glass, chrome, granite and marble, for example. Some of the accommodation options are also easily big enough for their own lounge area and kitchen, should you like a little independence. And though the facilities at La Rose Suites are not comparable with some of the larger resorts nearby, there are massages available in the spa, a swimming pool and furnished sun patio surrounded by lush gardens, plush a separate splash pond for kids if travelling with little ones. Food is also of great importance here, with La Rose Suite’s restaurant specialising in fine dining versions of typical Cambodian cuisine, to be savoured either as a guest out for dinner or as a student during one of the hotel’s regular cookery classes!
Throughout, you will be greeted by both that contemporary-cool décor and design, as well as the knowledge that many of the effortlessly friendly team here have been sourced from a local social initiative. The aim is to provide employment opportunities in hospitality to those would need it most, and the result is a socially responsible boutique hotel with impossibly welcoming and enthusiastic staff, the best of all worlds.
Room Options
All 68 guestrooms and suites are spacious and light, with generous floorplans, four-poster beds, and large bathrooms with both a walk-in rain shower and separate tub as standard. In keeping with the hotel’s contemporary décor of dark wood, black, chrome and white, modern-day in-room amenities follow suit such as iPod docks, a complimentary minibar, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, DVD players and more besides. There is little to choose between many of the suite categories, it’s mainly the view that changes, though larger rooms also come with a separate lounge area and a fully-equipped kitchenette.

Facilities/Amenities
There’s not a huge amount of onsite facilities at La Rose Suites, being a boutique Phnom Penh property where the suites themselves do most of the talking, though a traditional spa (treatments included for certain room categories) and two swimming pools – one for adults and one for children – are always welcome. The hotel’s garden and patio also make for a serene spot after a day of sightseeing, and elsewhere you’ll find all the necessary staples such as Wi-Fi and concierge services.
Restaurants & Bars

La Rose Restaurant
Certainly more of a restaurant than bar, though still a place for casual drinks before an evening out, the ground floor restaurant at La Rose Suites is a proud ambassador of Cambodian cuisine and one of the best eateries in Phnom Penh. The menu here is unashamedly full of locally-inspired dishes fused with a contemporary twist and refined presentation to match, though a handful of more recognisable favourites are also always available. Such is the passion for Khmer dining at La Rose Suites, the hotel even puts on regular cookery classes for guests to learn a few insider tips to take home with them, always a fun evening’s work if you have time to fit it in.

Activities & Entertainment
Being centrally located, the highlights and attractions of Phnom Penh are all within easy reach, and the hotel is only too keen to arrange tuk-tuk transfers if looking to get to a nearby restaurant or bar. The Royal Palace, Independence Monument and Mekong River are all within easy walking distance while onsite there are occasional live music performances in the evening.
