Discover Southeast Asia with depth and ease on our 12-night Temples & Tropical Isles journey, mixing an immersive city stay with a refined small-ship cruise aboard the Oceania Nautica.

This adventure is ideal if you want to discover new things, appreciate thoughtful pacing and enjoy having every detail expertly handled. This carefully curated journey takes you from Thailand’s cultural heart through to the varied shores of Southeast Asia before finishing in Singapore.

You’ll begin in Bangkok with a two-night pre-cruise stay to help you settle in and explore properly. You’ll see the city after dark from the Chao Phraya on a traditional rice barge, followed by a full day guided exploration of Bangkok’s most important temples, palaces and neighbourhoods, balanced with time on the water through the city’s quieter canals.

From here, you board Oceania Nautica – your home for the next ten nights. Life on board is unhurried and polished, with generous sea days that allow you to enjoy fine dining, enriching talks, wellness facilities and elegant entertainment between ports.

Ashore, each stop reveals a different side of Southeast Asia. In Koh Samui, wander through forested interiors, visit serene temples and relax on sun-drenched beaches. Ho Chi Minh City offers you two days to explore its vibrant streets and gain insight into Vietnam’s recent history. In Borneo and Brunei, discover rich cultural traditions, impressive mosques and peaceful rural landscapes. Then finish in Singapore, where you’ll see historic quarters sit alongside modern skyscrapers, elegant gardens and preserved memorials.

Throughout the adventure, you can choose from a range of expertly designed shore excursions or simply enjoy exploring at your own pace. This tour suits culturally curious travellers who appreciate comfort, considered luxury and a way to see multiple countries in one well-balanced itinerary.

Itinerary

Depart the UK on your overnight flight to Bangkok. On arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel for a two-night pre-cruise stay, giving you time to rest and settle in before your cruise.
This evening, enjoy an included Manohra Dinner Cruise along the Chao Phraya River. Step aboard a restored antique rice barge and glide past royal sites and ornate temples, taking in the striking landmarks. Savour fine Thai cuisine and experience the city from a unique riverside perspective.
Spend the day on an included full-day city tour of Bangkok, including lunch. Visit Wat Traimit to see the Golden Buddha, then take a leisurely walk through Chinatown. Continue to Wat Pho, home to one of Thailand’s largest Buddha statues, and explore the Grand Palace, the sacred site of the Emerald Buddha. Conclude today with a cruise along Bangkok’s canals, experiencing the city from the water.
After a private transfer to the port, board Oceania Nautica and settle into your stateroom. Spend the day familiarising yourself with the ship’s refined facilities before it sets sail in the evening.
Spend the day in Ko Samui, exploring its lush interiors and pristine beaches. You could visit Wat Phra Yai to see the giant Buddha, then watch elephants at a local camp. Or tour a coconut-harvesting plantation and see how rubber trees are tapped, before venturing to the island’s cascading waterfalls. Optional excursions include an Ancient Temples Tour, during which you’ll visit Khunaram Temple’s mummified monk, the Big Buddha Temple and Plai Laem Temple with its statue of the goddess Guanyin.
Enjoy a full day at sea aboard Oceania Nautica as you travel to your next destination. There’s time to experience high-energy production shows, live music, cabarets, deck games, wine tastings or try your luck at the casino. For a more reflective day, attend guest lectures, chef-led culinary demonstrations, or animated Team Trivia sessions. There are plenty of activities for you to enjoy.
Spend two days in Ho Chi Minh City, with time to explore the city or take optional excursions. Highlights include the Cu Chi Tunnels, where you can see how the Viet Cong lived and worked during wartime. Learn how the extensive network of tunnels was dug by hand and strategically booby-trapped. Between excursions, enjoy the comfort and facilities aboard Oceania Nautica, relaxing or participating in onboard activities as you prepare for the next stage of your journey.
Relax aboard Oceania Nautica as you sail to your next destination. Enjoy a variety of entertainment, from high-energy production shows and talented vocalists to classical music performances. Try your luck at the Monte Carlo-style casino or simply unwind on deck and take in the sea views. Evenings aboard offer an elegant and engaging atmosphere, ensuring every night is memorable.
Explore the vibrant city of Kota Kinabalu, notably the gold-domed mosque, distinctive high-rises and Heritage Village. Alternatively, you could venture inland to Kinabalu Park, a World Heritage site, and stroll along nature trails past rare plants and orchids. Optional excursions include a visit to the park with a market stop to meet the native Dusun people, or a scenic ride on Borneo’s last train through lush countryside, farms and villages. You also have time to relax on the sun-drenched beaches.
Brunei
Explore Muara with a scenic drive past glittering mosques, minarets and the Sultan’s palace – the world’s largest. You may also wish to visit the Brunei Museum to see Malay cultural artefacts and Islamic art or take a riverboat through the city’s canals. Optional excursions include Oceania’s Splendour of the Sultan tour, featuring a panoramic drive past the Royal Polo Grounds, the Empire Hotel and an amusement park, and a visit to the Royal Regalia. Alternatively, venture into the Borneo countryside to a Dayak village, where you can witness traditional warrior dances.
Spend a relaxing day at sea aboard your ship while travelling to your next destination. If you haven’t already, rejuvenate at the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Centre with massages, facials and wellness consultations, or maintain your fitness in the state-of-the-art gym. There’s also a chance to unwind on the gleaming Pool Deck and enjoy the ship’s elegant surroundings. Evenings offer refined dining and entertainment options, ensuring a day of both relaxation and engaging activities.
Spend the last two days exploring Singapore. You may be tempted to wander the old Chinese quarter and colourful Hindu temples, then admire modern skyscrapers, the Tiger Balm Gardens and the National Orchid Garden. Or visit the Kranji Memorial and the Changi Chapel and Memorial, which commemorate those who lost their lives in World War II. Optional excursions include a Singapore Bird Paradise tour, where you can observe exotic species across multiple aviaries.
Disembark Oceania Nautica and take a private transfer to the airport for your overnight flight back to the UK, concluding your journey through Southeast Asia.
