Experience Alaska’s rugged beauty and Canada’s majestic Rockies on this two-week journey, combining a Regent Seven Seas cruise through glittering glaciers with a rail adventure through towering mountainscapes.

Begin with a pre-cruise stay in Anchorage before boarding Seven Seas Explorer to explore Hubbard Glacier, Sitka, Klawock and the Inside Passage. Marvel at the towering ice walls, lush rainforests and abundant wildlife, all while enjoying the exceptional food and luxuries of the ship.

Savour a variety of excursions at each port: kayak among pristine waterways, spot bears and whales, explore historic towns, and wander serene nature trails. Then, continue your adventure aboard the Rocky Mountaineer, gliding through dramatic mountain passes, past Castle Mountain and Hell’s Gate, and arrive in Banff for two nights amid the Rockies’ alpine splendour.

Onboard Seven Seas Explorer, enjoy the elegance of a small luxury cruise ship, boasting exquisite design and showcasing works by Picasso. Each stateroom offers a private retreat, while the inclusive dining offers everything from fine cuisine at Compass Rose to casual lunches al fresco. Between excursions, reset in the spa, catch an evening cabaret show or relax with a book from the library as glaciers and wildlife glide past.

Itinerary

Anchorage
Fly to Anchorage and check-in to your hotel for an overnight stay. With Alaska’s vast wilderness on your doorstep, take the time to rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Whittier
This morning, transfer to Whittier and step aboard Seven Seas Explorer. Once you’ve settled into your spacious suite, head out to explore the rest of the ship. From elegant lounges to beautifully designed shared spaces, there’s plenty to discover. Later, ease into life on board with a leisurely lunch or your first evening dining experience, with several exceptional restaurants to choose from as the ship departs in the evening.
Hubbarb Glacier
Today you’ll sail past the awe-inspiring Hubbard Glacier, a colossal ice formation stretching for over six miles. Watch as towering ice cliffs rise hundreds of feet above the water, and listen for the thrilling roar of calving ice, known as ‘white thunder’ by the Tlingit people. From a heated expedition-style boat, listen to expert commentary from your naturalist guide while scanning for wildlife, including harbour seals, orcas, and humpback whales.
Sitka
Arrive in Sitka, a charming town set between the Pacific Ocean and lush forests, rich in Russian-American history. Wander along trails to admire totem poles and Victorian homes, or cycle through America’s largest national forest. If you’re a wildlife enthusiast, head out onto the waters to look out for whales and sea otters, or visit the Fortress of the Bear to observe rescued brown and black bears. Adventurers may opt for high-speed boat rides across the bay or try their hand at salmon fishing in Sitka Sound.
Holkham Bay
Spend the day cruising the spectacular Holkham Bay Glacier Fjords, surrounded by soaring cliffs and icy waters. Onboard, take time to browse the ship’s boutiques, offering designer clothing, fine jewellery and exclusive fragrances. Between shopping and sightseeing, relax and enjoy the stunning glacial scenery from the comfort of the ship’s deck or lounges.
Klawock
Step ashore in Klawock, a pioneer town framed by lush rainforest on Prince of Wales Island. Explore Tlingit culture with a visit to a master carver’s workshop, or follow trails along the salmon-rich Klawock River to spot wildlife and learn about the local flora. For adventure, try kayaking on a serene lake or fishing for Pacific salmon, before enjoying it in a freshly prepared meal. Between excursions, admire the rugged Inside Passage scenery from the comfort of the ship.
Inside Passage
Relax as Seven Seas Explorer sails the Inside Passage, with towering forests, fjords, and glacial peaks gliding past. Take in the scenery over lunch at La Veranda, where panoramic views from Deck 11 aft make every bite more memorable. In the evening, enjoy a choice of dining experiences: savour Asian-inspired dishes at Pacific Rim, nightly specials at Compass Rose, or prime cuts at Prime 7.
Step ashore in Victoria, a city of old-world charm and colourful gardens. Stroll along Inner Harbour, where pleasure crafts and floatplanes glide past, or explore the city’s historic streets and landmarks. Choose from a variety of experiences: enjoy a tasting at two local wineries, meander through the Butchart Gardens, savour afternoon tea at the Fairmont Empress, or tour a microbrewery and distillery. For a touch of adventure, take in sweeping views of Vancouver Island from the Malahat SkyWalk.
Disembark Seven Seas Explorer and transfer to your hotel for a two-night stay in Vancouver. Take the time to unwind and enjoy the city at your own pace. Stroll along the vibrant waterfront, browse chic boutiques and local markets, or relax in one of the city’s leafy parks. In the evening, sample the diverse culinary scene, from fresh Pacific seafood to international flavours, and soak in the city’s stunning skyline views before preparing for the next day’s adventures.
Kamloops
Transfer to Vancouver’s train station and board the Rocky Mountaineer for the iconic First Passage to the West route. Today, you’ll travel through the lush Fraser Valley as you enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast, with stunning scenery unfolding outside your window. Marvel at the dramatic gorges and rushing waters of Hell’s Gate before arriving in Kamloops, where you’ll spend the night. Take some time to relax and enjoy the small-town charm of this British Columbia hub surrounded by mountains and rivers.
Board the Rocky Mountaineer for the second half of your journey. As you sip a fresh morning coffee, you’ll continue east through the Shuswap region, with its magnificent lake views. A highlight of today is the stretch past Castle Mountain, an iconic landmark. Enjoy a gourmet lunch before arriving in Banff, where you’ll check in for a two-night stay.
Enjoy a day to rest and explore Banff at your own leisure. This idyllic mountain town sits at the heart of the Rockies and is surrounded by crisp lakes and alpine forests - why not head out for a hike, looking out for wildlife such as big horn sheep and elk? If you’d rather take it easy, Banff Hot Springs are the perfect spot in which to unwind.
Calgary
Transfer from your Banff hotel to Calgary Airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.
