Trace the vibrant South America on this 17-day journey from the natural spectacle of Iguazu Falls to the refined elegance of Buenos Aires, blending immersive land touring with an all-inclusive voyage aboard Seven Seas Mariner. Designed for travellers who value depth, comfort and discovery, this itinerary journeys through Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina at a relaxed pace.

Begin beside the thunder of Iguazu Falls, staying within Iguazu National Park on the Brazilian side before exploring both sides of this natural wonder. Continue to Rio de Janeiro, where iconic landmarks and sweeping coastal views set the tone for the next stage of your journey.

From here, step aboard Seven Seas Mariner, a spacious all-suite ship where private verandas, exceptional dining and intuitive service define life at sea. As you sail south, discover Brazil’s diverse coastline, from chic Búzios to lush islands and historic ports, before continuing to Uruguay’s laid-back capital, Montevideo.

Your voyage ends in Buenos Aires, where grand avenues and café-lined neighbourhoods set the stage for the city’s unmistakable tango culture. Here, music and movement spill into the streets, bringing your journey to a memorable close.

Itinerary

Your South American journey begins with a flight from the UK to Iguazu Falls, followed by a transfer to your hotel for a luxurious two-night pre-cruise stay.
Set within Brazil’s Iguazu National Park, the pink-walled Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel benefits from an unrivalled setting just moments from the falls. Enjoy exclusive access to the walkways outside park opening hours, along with elegant surroundings that perfectly complement this natural landscape.
Iguazu Falls
Today, explore the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls on a half-day tour, with a network of walkways bringing you remarkably close to the cascades. Cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge into Argentina, then continue through the national park to Devil’s Throat, the falls’ most dramatic viewpoint. Guided trails along the upper and lower circuits reveal the immense scale of this UNESCO-listed natural wonder.
Rio de Janeiro
Leave the rainforest landscapes of Iguazu behind as you fly to Rio de Janeiro for a two-night stay. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure, soaking up the energy of this iconic coastal city, set against golden beaches and granite peaks.
Discover two of Rio de Janeiro’s most iconic landmarks on a full-day tour of Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain. Travel through Tijuca National Park aboard the historic cogwheel train before reaching the towering Christ the Redeemer statue, where panoramic views stretch across the city and Guanabara Bay. Later, ascend Sugarloaf by cable car for another spectacular perspective over Rio’s beaches, mountains and sparkling coastline.
Enjoy a final glimpse of Rio’s iconic coastline as you step aboard Seven Seas Mariner for the next chapter of your journey. Settle into your Veranda Suite, where all-inclusive luxury defines life at sea. With eleven nights ahead, you can unwind at your own pace, enjoying refined dining, spacious surroundings and uninterrupted ocean views as you depart from one of South America’s most vibrant cities.
Buzios
Once a quiet fishing village, Búzios has evolved into one of Brazil’s most desirable coastal escapes, where cobbled streets and boutique-lined promenades meet a string of beautiful beaches. You might explore the Orla Bardot or simply unwind along the shoreline, where calm waters and laid-back beach culture invite a slower, sun-soaked pace.
Ilha Grande
Ilha Grande reveals a wilder side of Brazil, where dense Atlantic rainforest tumbles towards more than 200 unspoilt beaches. Once a pirate hideaway, the island is now a protected reserve, rich in wildlife and natural beauty. You might explore forest trails, kayak along the shoreline or relax on soft sands with nothing but the sound of the sea for company.
Ilhabela offers a striking blend of lush mountain scenery and a palm-fringed coastline, where rainforest spills down to secluded beaches. This verdant island is renowned for its natural beauty, with waterfalls, tropical birdlife and secluded coves. Explore its historic old town, browse local boutiques or savour fresh seafood, including the island’s renowned shrimp.
Set at the entrance to Babitonga Bay, São Francisco do Sul is one of Brazil’s oldest cities, with colonial façades and a working harbour that reflect its maritime heritage. The historic waterfront showcases a blend of Portuguese, German and Norwegian influences, carefully preserved along its cobbled streets.
Framed by lush hills and an emerald bay, Porto Belo offers fishing-village charm and relaxed coastal living. Explore Quatro Ilhas Beach, where soft sands and calm waters set the tone for a leisurely afternoon, while fresh seafood and a classic caipirinha complete the experience in this unspoilt stretch of Brazil’s coastline.
At the centre of the ship, the soaring atrium draws the eye with its sweeping staircases and striking glass sculpture rising through multiple decks. You might browse the onboard boutiques at leisure or simply take in the ocean views from one of the calm, open deck spaces, where every detail is designed for ease and comfort.
One of Brazil’s oldest port cities, Rio Grande sits where vast waterways meet the Atlantic, shaped by a long maritime heritage. You might explore the historic centre or simply take in the wide coastal views before returning to the ship, as the journey continues towards Uruguay and the final chapter of your voyage.
As Seven Seas Mariner glides across the broad waters of the Río de la Plata, there’s ample time to take in the ever-changing views between Argentina and Uruguay. Dining becomes a highlight of the day, with a choice of refined restaurants offering exceptional cuisine and attentive, understated service.
Montevideo
Montevideo offers a laid-back contrast to South America’s larger capitals, with a relaxed pace that feels immediately welcoming. As Uruguay’s cultural and political heart, the city brings together elegant architecture, leafy plazas and a strong sense of local identity. Wander through the historic Ciudad Vieja, explore its museums or enjoy the Rambla as it traces the coastline.
Montevideo
A second day in Montevideo lets you explore beyond the familiar waterfront, venturing into the city’s quieter residential districts and cultural corners. Grand public buildings and leafy squares speak to its long civic history, while local cafés and neighbourhood markets offer a more intimate glimpse into daily life.
Buenos Aires
Arriving in Buenos Aires brings your journey to a close in one of South America’s most sophisticated capitals. Elegant boulevards lined with jacaranda trees lead to grand theatres, world-class galleries and characterful neighbourhoods such as La Boca and San Telmo. The city’s energy builds as evening approaches, with tango drifting through cobbled streets and cafés coming to life. After disembarkation, you are privately transferred to the airport for your flight back to the UK via São Paulo.
