Hotel information
Surrounded by spectacular landscapes and outback scenery, Rawnsley Park Station overlooks the southern side of Wilpena Pound in South Australia’s wild and breathtakingly beautiful Flinders Ranges.
The Woolshed Restaurant, housed in an authentic Australian woolshed, is open for dinner each evening. The restaurant offers an ever-changing menu of modern Australian cuisine - such as the Rawnsley lamb tasting platter and dukkah-crusted kangaroo fillet.
There are several ways to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty and discover its geological wonders, native wildlife and flora. Explore on foot on a self-guided day hike, or on one of the scheduled guided three and five-day hikes. Hire a mountain bike and ride part of the 200-kilometre circle trail through Wilpena Pound and to Gum Creek Station, or the entire trail which takes around three-and-a-half days. Join one of the thrilling 4WD tours that depart from Rawnsley Park Station daily, stopping at attractions such as Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges in search of fossils and yellow-footed rock wallabies.
The ultimate way to experience this area is by air; you can choose from scenic light aircraft or helicopter flights. The ‘Heli-Swag’ experience includes soaring over the Wilpena Pound mountains and landing in a remote spot on the Chace Ranges, where you will enjoy a two-course camp dinner and spend the night under the star-filled outback sky.
Access to Rawnsley Park Station is by road via the Clare and Barossa Valley wine growing regions or via Port Augusta, each taking approximately five-hours or by air on a private charter from Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, Eyre Peninsula and Coober Pedy.
