This Wyoming holiday ticks off two experiences on many travellers’ bucket-lists; visiting the immense and diverse Yellowstone National Park, and fulfilling the fantasy of becoming a cowboy or cowgirl on a western dude ranch.

Spend two days exploring the main attractions of Yellowstone such as the Minerva Terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs and watching the Old Faithfull geyser erupt over 100 feet into the air. Stop at West Thumb Geyser Basin and wander along boardwalks over bubbling pools.

At Goosewing Ranch you will be fitted out with a horse and saddle so you can ride off into the wilderness and immerse yourself in spectacular mountain scenery. Try your hand at archery, target shooting, team penning or fly-fishing among other activities included in your ranch stay.

Itinerary

Day 1 UK to Jackson

On arrival at Jackson Hole Airport, collect your rental vehicle and take the short drive to your downtown hotel. Hotel – Hotel Terra Jackson

Day 2 Jackson - Yellowstone National Park (112 miles)

Spend a leisurely morning in Jackson before setting off on your scenic drive to Yellowstone National Park. Drive past the majestic mountains of Grand Teton National Park before entering Yellowstone. Stop at the geothermal areas at West Thumb where you follow boardwalks over bubbling pools and steaming geysers. Follow the shoreline of Yellowstone Lake and continue to Canyon Lodge, stopping at Upper and Lower Falls of The Yellowstone River along the way. Hotel – Canyon Lodge Hotel, Yellowstone

Day 3 Yellowstone National Park

Enjoy a full day discovering Yellowstone National Park’s natural wonders, always keeping an eye out for wildlife such as bears and bison. The Yellowstone Grand Loop is a great option for the first-time visitor, taking in many of the park’s main attractions. We suggest concentrating on the northern loop today stopping at Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Hot Springs and the Minerva Terraces and Tower Falls along the way. Day 4 Yellowstone National Park – Goosewing Ranch (130 miles)

Today we suggest taking in the western section of the southern part of the Grand Loop on your way to Goosewing Ranch, stopping at the famed Old Faithful, allowing time to watch the geyser erupt before continuing your journey. Check-in to Goosewing Ranch this afternoon for the start of your Western cowboy experience. Get fitted with your saddle and choice of horse before dinner in the main lodge.

Day 5 Goosewing Ranch

Following a hearty breakfast in the main lodge, you will head out into the beautiful wilderness by horseback for the morning, watch out for antelope, bears, coyotes and more. After lunch, you can relax by the heated pool or try your hand at archery or target shooting.

Day 6 Goosewing Ranch

Spend the morning enjoying the facilities of the ranch, head down to the river and try a spot of fly-fishing. If you prefer you can head out on a breakfast ride on horseback and return for lunch. In the afternoon, you can head out on another horseback ride or continue learning new cowboy skills such as team penning.

Day 7 Goosewing Ranch

Spend a full day in the saddle and explore this beautiful wilderness further, riding through forests, canyons and along ridges with stunning views of the Teton and Wind River Mountains. There are wide open spaces perfect for loping alongside Gros Venture River.
