Spend a leisurely afternoon at The Truffle Farm Tasmania, home of Australia’s first black truffle, and discover the story behind one of the country’s most prized gourmet ingredients. Set in Tasmania’s Meander Valley, around 45 minutes from Launceston on the direct Launceston–Cradle Mountain route, the farm offers a hands-on introduction to the world of truffle cultivation.

Summer Siesta has been created specifically around the farm’s summer harvest of Summer Black Truffle (Tuber aestivum). Unusually, The Truffle Farm also grows Winter Black Truffle (Tuber melanosporum), allowing fresh truffles to be harvested for around 10 months of the year, from December through to September.

Follow the expert truffle dogs into the plantation as they search beneath the trees, learning about the cultivation and harvesting of these highly prized delicacies. There is even the opportunity to get involved and unearth a truffle yourself, offering a fascinating insight into the skill and patience behind Australia's distinctive truffle industry.

After the hunt, relax amongst the truffle trees and enjoy freshly prepared truffle pizza, made on-site and showcasing the day's star ingredient. Pair it with your choice of Tasmanian wine or beer for a relaxed finale surrounded by the farm's peaceful summer setting.

Combining hands-on discovery, exceptional local produce and the story of a pioneering Australian truffle farm, Summer Siesta offers a memorable taste of Tasmania's gourmet heritage.
