This tailor-made journey through Iceland is the perfect way to delve into the country’s romantic natural beauty. With private guides, transfers and tours throughout, you’ll explore glaciers, volcanoes, black-sand beaches and remote valleys on your own terms, travelling at a pace that allows for both adventure and downtime.

Along the way, experiences range from whale-watching and glacier snowmobiling to Super Jeep tours, horseback riding and guided ice walks. You’ll travel the Golden Circle and south coast, delving beneath the earth in ancient lava tunnels, and, conditions permitting, hunting for the northern lights.

Along the way, you’ll stay at handpicked luxury hotels, from The Reykjavik EDITION and Torfhús Retreat to Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon and The Retreat at Blue Lagoon. Enjoy time to rest, taking the chance to soothe muscles in geothermal waters and authentic saunas, fuel up on fresh Nordic cuisine, and admire the rugged scenery from cosy fireside lounges.

Itinerary

Fly to Reykjavik and check-in to The Reykjavik EDITION for two nights. Set in the heart of the downtown area, this hotel is the perfect base for exploring the city, which you’ll get to do with a private tour. Escorted by an expert driver guide, you’ll have the chance to visit your choice of key sights and highlights. When you’re done, you’ll get even more of a taste for the city with a food and wine tour, taking you behind the scenes of local restaurants to learn more about Icelandic culture and cuisine.
Today starts with a whale watching trip into Faxaflói Bay. You’ll look out for the ocean’s gentle giants under the guidance of expert marine biologists, who’ll also share their knowledge on the resident bird life, including puffins, gannets and guillemots. Back on land, visit the Perlan Museum for immersive exhibitions that encourage you to feel and listen to the sound of the glaciers, and sit back in the planetarium for a northern lights simulation. Finally, visit the Icelandic Lava Show to safely get up-close to molten lava.
Gullfoss Falls
Check out of your Reykjavik hotel and be picked up for a private, scenic drive of the Golden Circle. Go off the beaten track to visit the likes of Langjokull, the second-largest glacier in Iceland. From Gulfoss, embark on a thrilling snowmobile tour across the stunning glacier landscape, reaching the surreal ice cave before making your way to your hotel for the next two nights, Torfhus Retreat. Enjoy a rest after an action-packed day, with fresh Nordic cuisine at the restaurant and wines from the hotel’s curated cellar.
Thorsmork
After a peaceful night’s sleep, get ready for your next adventure - a private Super Jeep tour into Thorsmork, a lushly vegetated mountain valley named after Thor, the Viking God of Thunder. On this tour, you’ll travel in a highly modified off-road Super Jeep that can cross deep glacial rivers and handle almost any terrain. After stopping for a picnic lunch, head back to Torfhus Retreat and recharge in the basalt stone hot pools.
South coast
Continue your adventure across Iceland with a private car journey along the south coast, home of the spectacular black sand beaches. On the way, you’ll see the Dyrhóleay stone arches, the pretty village of Vik and the angular basalt columns. Later, check-in to your hotel for the next two nights, Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon, set between two of Iceland's most spectacular natural attractions, Skaftafell and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Why not take a sauna session before sitting back to admire the views?
Glacier Lagoon
This morning, you’ll have the chance to see the Glacier Lagoon, said to be one of the greatest wonders of nature in Iceland. Head to the black sands of Diamond Beach to see fragments of icebergs washed up on the shore, a favourite sight for photographers. Next, you’ll don crampons, hard hat and harness for a guided glacier walk. Listen to the sound of the ice creaking underfoot before heading back to Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon to relax for the evening.
Eyjafjallajokull
Continue up the mountains towards the Eyjafjallajökull glacier and volcano, with, weather permitting, beautiful views of the Vestmannaeyjar Islands. Today’s experience starts at an Icelandic horse stable, where you’ll meet the country’s friendly and iconic equines. Take a horseback ride up the hills, soaking in the views of the Holtsnúpur mountain and valley, and the mighty Holtsárgil canyon. Tonight, you’ll stay at Skálakot Manor, heading out for a northern lights hunt if skies permit.
Raufarholshellir
You’ll delve underground with today’s experience - a private lava tunnel tour. This impressive structure was created over 5,200 years ago following a volcanic eruption, and still impresses with its geological marvels that tell the story of past seismic activity. Continue back west to Reykjanes and check-in to The Retreat Blue Lagoon, an icon in Iceland since 1992. You’ll have plenty of time to soak in the benefits of the geothermal waters, so spend the night settling in and enjoying a gourmet dinner in Moss Restaurant.
Reykjanes
Finish your Icelandic adventure with a day of relaxation and rejuvenation at The Blue Lagoon. Spend as long as you wish bathing in the mineral-rich waters and admiring the surrounding volcanic landscape. Experience an in-water massage, the perfect way to soothe muscles after an action-packed week. For dinner, why not head to Lava Restaurant for a final taste of Icelandic cuisine?
Enjoy a final breakfast at The Blue Lagoon before check-out. Take your private transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
