Hotel information
It’s not easy to summarise The Resort at Paws Up in one go, so all-encompassing is this unique Montana ranch, its setting, and the sheer volume of outdoor adventures, family fun and memorable excursions that are available here.
Beginning with that fairytale location, The Resort at Paws Up sits in a 37,000-acre untouched expanse of pine forests, gushing rivers, open plains, pastures, valleys and mountains, all of which are primed for truly endless outdoor activities. Among them, while here you’ll have everything from cattle herding to yoga, archery to rafting, canoeing, paintballing, rappelling, downhill biking and ATV tours, geocaching, nature walks, horse-drawn cart drives, snowmobiling, hot air ballooning and helicopter rides all available. That, however, is just a fraction of what’s on offer at this working horse ranch, here in the majestic Montana hills.
Such an incredible – and varied – landscape is already enough reason to visit The Resort at Paws Up, yet the stories continue inside too. This is thanks to a sophisticated spa, fine dining cuisine, cosy lounge rooms complete with fireplace and sink-in sofas, plus some of best boutique accommodation in the Rockies. You can either book yourself into the Resort at Paws Up’s Luxury Tented Camp and enjoy your time in the wilderness with more than a few creature comforts, or book an entire luxury home and have a huge swathe of paradise all to yourself. Both options have their own special appeal, depending on what suits you best.
Finally, whether travelling to Montana as a family or couple, The Resort at Paws Up has you covered no matter what. The beautiful scenery speaks for itself and activities are as plentiful in the winter as in summer (with adult-orientated classes, wine tasting, painting, yoga and the spa perfect for grown-ups). Meanwhile, their range of lodging options and dining choices really will mean something for absolutely everybody here; The Resort at Paws Up is simply certain to leave its mark on your USA adventure.
Room Options
There are some distinct yet equally appealing accommodation options at The Resort at Paws Up, either their Luxury Tented Camp, a Luxury Home, or the one-off Island Lodge.
The tented camp makes for a back-to-nature feel of evenings spent under a clear night sky, forest or river views from your veranda and a real campfire spirit – albeit a boutique one with fantastic dining options and in-tent luxuries both on-hand.
Meanwhile, the home option is something else entirely, picture log cabins either in the forest or out on the plains, some with an outdoor Jacuzzi, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms available if needed, and a little more independence throughout your stay.
Luxury Tented Camp
The Luxury Tented Camp is a great option if keen to feel at one with the great outdoors, while also having an intimate boutique escape to return to each evening. Inside, you’ll find a standalone rolltop bathtub, bespoke furnishings and décor, luxe bathrooms, a comfy bed and veranda to enjoy the view. Note that there are several Luxury Tented Camp sites located throughout the ranch grounds, so be sure to pick one that’s right for you.
Luxury Homes
The Resort at Paws Up Luxury Homes are a great option if travelling to Montana as a family, though honeymoon homes are also available. Each has its own design, layout, outlook and features, some with multiple bedrooms, others with private gardens or an outdoor Jacuzzi, porches, living rooms and kitchens too. The lodges themselves are either tucked away in the forest, beside the river or out on the open plains with several sites located throughout the ranch grounds, so be sure to pick one that...
Island Lodge
The Island Lodge at Salmon Lake is a unique, private escape – accessible only by water – that will give you the most incredible, intimate experience here on the ranch.Facilities/Amenities
The Resort at Paws Up’s main draw is the wealth of outdoor adventures to be had across its 37,000 acre estate, and in terms of facilities, everything is set up here for all conceivable sports, tours, classes, activities and excursions – with all equipment also provided.
Around the ranch itself, you then have a gym and spa, plenty of cosy communal areas and a selection of dining options to choose from.
Restaurants & Bars
Pomp Restaurant
A gourmet fine dining restaurant showcasing the best of big North American flavours and seasonal produce, though with a notably refined twist. The setting is also part of the picture here, as the Pomp Restaurant is housed in a cosy room complete with fireplace and suitably scenic views.

- Dinner
Trough Restaurant
A little more laidback though no less tasty, Trough Restaurant serves up your fresh breakfast platters, smoothies, deluxe sandwiches, lighter bites and picnic items if heading out on a day of adventures.
