Whether you are passionate about Scottish cultural history or have a burning passion for whiskey, the Royal Scotsman, A Belmond Train will marvel your senses.

The Haybarn Spa Car is one of the few places in the world where you can experience serene beauty and body treatments on the rails. The two serene treatment rooms, dressed in bright white walls and woven wicker, offer a tranquil environment where guests can experience a range of relaxing treatments, from a full body massage to a manicure, all using soothing Bamford botanical products.

The true chef-d’oeuvre is the Observation Lounge that trails at the back of the train. When you’re not exploring the country by foot, this car is the best place to come to relax. During the day, sink back in the comfort of plush sofas as you survey the scenery as it unfolds before you. You may even take in the crisp Scottish air from the open external deck. By night, the lounge becomes a cosy, laid back space filled with traditional music, perfect for slowly sipping a glass of malt whiskey.

Activities & Entertainment

Each day is structured around a well organised schedule of activities to suit the journey theme. On the Heritage Homes and Gardens journey, for example, you can sample fine single malts at Foulis Castle. Activities on other journeys include excursions to the Isle of Skye and Foulis Castle, as well as golf itineraries, wild fishing and clay-pigeon shooting.

Those with a passion for whiskey can join the Scotch Malt Whiskey Society for a four-night tasting experience that include private journeys of Glen Ord, Glenlivet and Tullibardine distilleries, as well as an board whiskey ambassador.

Each evening, following dinner, in the Observation Car you can find storytelling and music performed by local clansmen.
