A mere ten-minute drive from Queenstown, Rosewood Matakauri (formerly Matakauri Lodge) is a luxurious haven of a hotel poised above Lake Wakatipu, looking across to jaw-dropping mountains: The Remarkables, Cecil and Walter Peaks.

Rosewood Matakauri makes the most of this lakeside perch by granting far-reaching views of the glistening water and majestic mountains through wide glass windows, whether in the dining room, guest lounge or accommodation itself.

The hotel’s hub is its airy lounge, adorned with ochre sofas and a roaring fireplace, as well as a tempting al fresco terrace that also stars a fireplace and cosy throws to keep you toasty on those cooler nights.
