Traverse the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing with an expert guide on this excellent 9.5-hour tour. Spanning a total of 19 kilometres, the trek leads up to the saddle between Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro before diverting over Mt Tongariro. Witness a rugged landscape peppered with uniquely shaped craters, scoured volcanic rocks and beautiful mountain springs lining the trail. By travelling in summer, you’re treated to a majestic array of colours and textures created by the sulphur, aluminium and silica deposits released from the Earth’s crust. Visit during the winter and enjoy a more peaceful excursion with fewer walkers in the area and the chance to discover a wonderland of snow-covered scenery.
