Your Lizard Island experience begins with your one-hour scenic flight from Cairns where you can take in the majesty of one of the world’s natural wonders; the Great Barrier Reef.
Then you’ll arrive at this secluded Luxury Lodge of Australia; the northernmost resort on the Great Barrier Reef. Positioned at the centre of the inner and outer reefs, here you can explore the reef and its wonders directly from one the island’s 24 private powdery white sand beaches. Witness Giant Clam gardens, swim with schools of tropical fish, manta rays and turtles or explore further on a glass bottom boat tour.
With only 40 rooms and villas, you will have a sense of an exclusive luxury at Lizard Island, where you can pick up a Deluxe Picnic Hamper at the Beach Club and dinghy or motor to your own private beach for a day of seclusion and utter privacy.
The elegant accommodation is situated in a variety of locations, including Garden View Rooms and Suites, Oceanview Villas and Beachfront Suites and Lizard Islands Luxurious Pavilion and Villa, both commanding panoramic ocean views from their cliff top locations.
Take in 180-degree ocean views from the terrace at the relaxed Saltwater Restaurant, where a daily-changing menu is served at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Inclusive pre-dinner drinks are served at Driftwood Bar while watching the sunset over the water. Casual nights are enjoyed at the rustic Marlin Bar on three nights of the week, where pizzas, tapas and burgers are on the menu. Intimate beachside dinners can be pre-arranged for an additional charge, with a seven-course degustation menu served in one of two private beach pavilions.
Three meals are included each day in your Lizard Island experience, along with unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, a selection of wines, beers, spirits and sparkling wines, an in-room bar restocked daily, deluxe picnic hampers and unlimited use of non-motorised watercraft such as stand up paddle boards and clear bottomed sea kayaks.
There are a whole host of activities available both on land and in the water on a stay here. Visit Lizard Island’s Research Station and learn more about the research projects that the Australian Museum are conducting on the reef and about the environment. Take a nature walk guided by a resident naturalists or hike to Cook’s Look, the highest point of the island with commanding views of the island and fringing reef. Inner and Outer snorkel tours, diving, fishing charters and private sunset cruises can be pre-arranged for an additional charge. Ask your Travel Specialist about pre-booking these experiences.
