Full accommodation information

Situated in the royal province of Rajasthan close to tiger-stalked Ranthambore National Park, the all-suite Six Senses Fort Barwara is a great option to add to a tailormade India itinerary. As the hotel occupies a beautiful 700-year-old Fort backdropped by the Aravalli hills, its fairy tale setting lends itself to unforgettable honeymoons.

Six Senses hotels are renowned for their exotic locales and focus on wellbeing, and the brand’s first resort in India is no exception. Six Senses Fort Barwara occupies a palatial 14th century royal fortress, sensitively remodelled to become India’s definitive wellness sanctuary.

Just 48 suites are spread over different wings, with tranquil views of either rolling countryside, Barwara village or the lake. Each contemporary suite is dotted with bespoke, handcrafted pieces by Rajasthan’s masterly artisans, which complement the fort’s rich history.

There’s plenty to keep you occupied inside the ancient walls, from meditation sessions in the sacred quarters to strolls along the sandstone ramparts. Put your feet up whilst enjoying a day in the lives of royalty at the palatial spa. In the Alchemy Bar, you can even blend your own products using local plants and herbs.

As with all Six Senses hotels, the onus here is on sustainable luxury. Throughout the five restaurants and bars, ingredients are harvested from the resort’s organic gardens and carefully selected farmers from the villages and townships nearby. There’s also Earth Lab kitchen-garden tours and in-resort shops selling local handicrafts which benefits the community.

If you want to venture out, your personal GEM (Six Senses’ Guest Experience Makers) will arrange gentle ambles around local villages, sunset drives to the Aravalli mountains in an open-top jeep and romantic sundowners by a secluded lake. Half an hour’s drive away, track the Royal Bengal Tiger in Ranthambore National Park, or spend a day in Jaipur treasure-hunting in the colourful bazaars.

There are 48 suites ranging from 753 square feet (70 square meters) to 3,014 square feet (280 square meters), all sleeping upto three guests. Some Suites can be interconnected.
