Glenburn Tea Estate

With breathtaking mountain views, Glenburn stretches from an elevation of 3,700 feet, down to the two snow-fed rivers that meander through it. Originally owned by a Scottish tea company the estate is now managed by a tea planting family, the Prakashes.

Home to generations of tea planters, Glenburn offers a luxurious stay at The Burra Bungalow and Water Lily Bungalow. There are four bedrooms in the Water Lily Bungalow and four bedrooms in the original bungalow. The style is old colonial, charming and with lot of character.

The four rooms in the Water Lily Bungalow have stunning views and have been decorated very well. Some rooms have walk-in showers or a fireplace spread between the two bungalows and each with their own theme. These are equipped with private bathrooms, fans, hair driers, Darjeeling green tea toiletries, fresh fruit and flower and hot water bottles.

Relax in The Front Verandah, or The Pavilion by the Lily Pond, or in the secluded gardens, each offering dramatic views of the tea fields, forests, rivers and mountains. Unwind in front of a crackling fire in The Drawing Room and enjoy dinner in The Dining Room served in true planter’s style. The Glenburn Tea Estate produces its own bread, marmalade, cakes and cookies. 

Glenburn is an ideal base for visiting Darjeeling. There is plenty that you can do: private tours to the tea estates can be arranged, bird watching, fishing, swimming in the river or even star gazing and and other excursions to Darjeeling and Kalimpong.
