Babylonstoren

A historic Cape Dutch farm set in the dramatic mountains of the Drakenstein Valley, Babylonstoren dates back to 1690 with gardens inspired by the 17th and 18th century Company Gardens of the Dutch East India Company.

Babylonstoren comprises 14 cottages strung out along the gardens and vineyards and each echos the Cape Dutch farm buildings with outer walls whitewashed and decorated with ornate gables, thatched roofs and simple yet stylish interiors that are cool in the summer and warmed by open hearths in the winter.

Located an easy 45 minutes drive from Cape Town International Airport and central to the Western Cape Winelands, Babylonstoren is ideally situated as a base to visit  Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek. This farm is set in 200 acres where you are free to roam and watch fruit being picked in the orchards or vines being pruned.

Cuisine in Babylonstoren's restaurant leans to simplicity with an edge, with fruit, vegetables and herbs gathered daily for the farms own gardens. Breakfasts are of fresh fruits, homemade mueslis, yoghurts and thick honeys. Lunches are generous and meals may be taken in secluded settings throughout the farm or gardens, guests of Babylonstoren are also welcome to join the chefs in the open kitchen.

Babylonstoren is perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat to return to after a busy day of wine-tasting and sightseeing. Other activities on offer either at the farm or in the surrounding area includes birdwatching, working out at the farm's gym, relaxing by the pool or in the spa and enjoy a relaxing massage, sauna or steam room.
