Bear Watching Adventure in British Columbia is an independent tailor-made tour taking in some of British Columbia's most exciting activities. Take to the skies by floatplane for a spectacular scenic panorama flight-seeing tour over the city and inner harbour. Embark on a whale watching adventure from Vancouver, in search of orcas and other marine wildlife.

Leave Vancouver for the Great Bear Rainforest, the largest intact temperate rainforest in the world and home to the rare and elusive Kermode (Spirit) Bear. Spend four nights at Spirit Bear Lodge where you will head out in to the waterways and rainforest with Kiatasoo guides in search of Spirit, Black and Grizzly Bears.

Note: There are very limited departures from Vancouver to Spirit Bear Lodge in 2024.

Itinerary

Take a flight to Vancouver from the UK. On arrival take a private car transfer to your downtown hotel. The rest of the evening is free for you to explore. We recommend visiting Gastown which is a historic neighbourhood offering an incredible selection of shops and restaurants. Overnight: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
This morning you will take a scenic floatplane tour 'Panoramic Classic' over Vancouver and the harbour. Your float plane departs from Vancouver's Coal Harbour and takes a 20 minute loop over Stanley Park and the city, offering you spectacular photographic opportunities of this beautiful city. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city and its surrounds. Overnight: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
Each summer pods of Orca whales head for the waters south of Vancouver, during which time you have 90% chance of sightings of these incredible mammals. Your whale watching tour by high speed zodiac will travel through the Gulf and San Juan Islands in search of Southern Resident Killer Whales, Transient Killer Whales, Humpback Whales and other marine life such as porpoises, seals and sea lions. Tour is inclusive of Vancouver hotel transfers. Overnight: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver
Great Bear Rainforest
Transfer to Vancouver Airport, from where you will depart from the south terminal for your flight to Bella Bella. You will transfer to the Bella Bella dock for your water taxi ride through the islands to Spirit Bear Lodge in Klemtu. Check in to Spirit Bear Lodge for your 3 night stay, while at the lodge all meals and snacks are included from dinner on your first night to lunch on your last night.
Great Bear Rainforest
Travel in small groups by boat in search of Spirit Bears and other wildlife in their natural habitat. The Kitasoo guides have intimate knowledge of the area and behaviour of these elusive bears and will often be able to situate you in locations where you get superb viewing and photographic opportunities. The temperate rainforest are home to hundreds of species of animals including grizzly and black bears and wolves, whilst the waters attract humpback whales, orcas and and seals.

Great Bear Rainforest
A second full day to head out and explore the Great Bear Rainforest in search of Spirit, Grizzly and Black Bears. You also have the opportunity to join a cultural and natural history sites interpretive walking tour and a marine tour searching for humpback whales (seasonal).
Staying at   Spirit Bear Lodge
After breakfast, pack up and depart the lodge to enjoy a scenic boat ride back to Bella Bella of serenity in the Great Bear Rainforest. Arrive in Bella Bella in time to take your Pacific Coastal Airlines afternoon flight back to Vancouver. You arrive at Vancouver South Terminal where your package comes to an end. Breakfast and snacks included
This morning you may wish to take an optional grizzly tracking tour or estuary exploration kayak tour before transferring by water taxi back to Bella Bella for your flight to Vancouver, where you will connect for your flight back to the UK.
