The fact that it’s all indoors means it’s the perfect place to hide from the midday heat too, though at these times you will find the park a little more crowded, especially in the school holidays and during peak season. An outdoor attraction worth a visit – and another great way to keep cool in the Abu Dhabi heat – is Yas Waterworld, a waterpark spanning an area of around 15 football pitches. With 43 rides, slides and attractions and an age-appropriate area for smaller children, the whole clan can enjoy a day out here.

For something a little less action-packed, there are plenty of options too. Laze on the beach or in one of the decadent pools in resort. We also recommend taking high tea on the 74th floor of the Etihad Towers, where the observation deck offers the best views of the city and surrounding islands.

Not all the wonders here are manmade though. Experience a unique marine eco-system with spectacular mangrove scenery on a guided kayaking adventure. Encounter a variety of wildlife like egrets, herons, Crab Plovers, Sandpipers, cormorants, and pink flamingos while paddling through the mangroves.
