Small but perfectly formed, The Fort Bazaar is an elegant boutique hotel situated within the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Galle Fort in southern Sri Lanka.

Opened in January 2016, The Fort Bazaar effortlessly blends contemporary style with a sense of history. Just 15 classically appointed guestrooms all open out into an airy central courtyard, where guests can relax, socialise and enjoy the ambience. Three further 'Upper Suites' represent the highest room class available, offering even more space and balconies that take in views over the Galle Fort itself.

Dining is a delight, with the hotel's gourmet restaurant overseen by Executive Chef Neal Giles, as well as a host tempting cocktails and wines on offer at the bar.

Coming soon, the hotel's 'Z Spa' will offer a sanctuary to the weary traveller, with massages and beauty treatments to relax and revive. There's also a library and cinema; the perfect setting to while away a few evening hours.

During the day, there is so much to see and do here. Explore the historic streets of Galle Fort, stroll along the promenade or head straight for the beach; the choice is yours.

Our Advice

First built by the Portuguese in 1588, Galle Fort was fortified by the Dutch in the mid 17th century and has rich mixture of European and Sri Lankan architecture, as well as a fascinating colonial history.

The Fort Bazaar is just 200 metres from Galle's renowned international cricket ground, where fans of the game should try to take in a match during their stay.
