Hotel information
Welcome to the historic heart of Palma. With the iconic Arab Baths just steps away and the sea within reach, Portella perfectly places you to explore Palma’s cultural treasures at your own pace.
Here, you stay in a private house thoughtfully reworked by Festen Architecture. The interiors are elegant, shaped by natural materials and a strong focus on craftsmanship. Carefully chosen furnishings sit alongside bespoke lighting from Mallorca’s Gordiola glassmakers, giving the house a clear sense of place without feeling overdone or cluttered.
If you value privacy, flexibility and thoughtful detail, the hotel is designed with you in mind. Instead of traditional check-in formalities, you’re welcomed with a fluid, residential approach that allows you to settle in with ease. On-demand transport and highly personalised service ensure Palma is always within reach, whether you’re drawn to the cathedral, the boutiques or the coast.
Every experience is tailored around you. You can arrange a private chef or wine concierge, with access to a carefully curated cellar and Mallorca’s leading wine merchants. Take to the coast on a private boat, or return to the house and unwind in the hammam after time spent exploring Palma.
Available for exclusive use, Portella is the discreet address for those who appreciate intricate design, an excellent location and service delivered with confidence.
Room Options
Choose from fourteen rooms and suites designed by Parisian studio Festen in their debut Spanish project. From the cosy Junior Suite to the expansive Arab Baths Apartment, each space is a comfortable, considered design – with amenities that make you feel right at home.
Medium Room
Sleeps: 2 Adults
In the 30 to 35 square metres of space, these rooms provide sanctuary with their king-size bed in a characterful, open-plan layout. Enjoy a calm, residential atmosphere throughout.
Large Room
Sleeps: 3 Adults
Generously proportioned, these rooms are located on the upper ground floor and feature a king-size bed with a separate sitting area. Some offer a freestanding roll-top bath and a desk for added comfort. Your views may take in Can Serra Street, the Portella Street façade or the tranquil inner courtyard. Select rooms can connect to form a two-bedroom apartment, ideal for families.

Restaurants & Bars
Why not arrange private chef and wine-concierge services tailored to your preferences? The onsite cellar offers a curated selection of wines, with privileged access to Mallorca’s leading wine specialists. With advance notice, any local or international bottle you desire can be sourced for same-day enjoyment in Palma. This is in addition to the hotel’s staple restaurant, Portella’s Kitchen.
Portella’s Kitchen
Tuck into seasonal Mediterranean dishes from breakfast through late afternoon in a relaxed setting at the heart of the house. Menus highlight locally sourced ingredients, thoughtfully paired with a curated wine list. Dine in your room or enjoy an aperitif on the rooftop, entirely at your own pace.
Activities & Entertainment
Wellbeing here is simple, considered and rooted in place. The stone hammam, inspired by traditional Turkish steam baths and Palma’s Arab Baths, sits within the palace’s former pottery oven. Heated to 50°C with natural humidity, it’s complemented by an integrated shower for contrast. A massage cabin and Technogym and Evergy fitness space complete the offering.
Step outside to the rooftop, your vantage point above the city, and settle into a sun lounger. You can cool off beneath a freshwater shower, or pause with a drink as Palma’s rooftops unfold before you.
Away from the hotel, your journey may take you to the Cathedral, city walls, independent shops and galleries, and the sea is just five minutes away. Despite this central address, you’ll find the neighbourhood retains a calm, residential character, shaped by historic mansions and streets.
Sustainability Initiatives & Responsible Tourism
Portella works closely with Mallorca’s artisans and family-run workshops, including the historic Gordiola Glassmakers. Inside, terracotta floors, lime-washed walls and bespoke iron and oak furniture create a grounded, considered feel. Traditional materials and Mallorcan craftsmanship reflect the island’s creative heritage, with every detail chosen for longevity and a clear connection to Palma’s architectural character.
