Madrid is a fantastic location for a city break, and the hotel is ideally located for visiting some of the highlights of the city within walking distance. The hotel is positioned in the Salamanca district, an upscale area of Madrid. Visit Gran Vía, Madrid’s most famous street, lined with boutique shops, theatres and gorgeous early 20th century buildings.
Head to Prado National Museum, Reina Sofía Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum & Sorolla Museum or the Royal Palace, Europe’s largest royal palace, for an educational day out in the city.
Madrid’s locals are welcoming, and the feel of the city is very laid back, so enjoy the time people-watching at Puerta del Sol, a public square and the city’s hub. Cut through to the Plaza Mayor, a magnificent square that dates back more than 400 years and sample delicious tapas for an authentic Spanish experience in the indoor market.
For a bit of nature and science in Madrid, you’ll enjoy Retiro Park and the Royal Botanic Gardens, founded in the 18th century; look out for the elm tree known as Pantalones, whose trunk looks like a pair of trousers!
You can also head to the observation deck at the CentroCentro cultural centre in the former post office in Plaza de Cibeles for a 360-degree view of Madrid.
