Full accommodation information

Journey to the quiet beauty of Sorrisniva, a remarkable base for exploring Norway’s high Arctic.

Set along the banks of the Alta River, the resort is entirely surrounded by open wilderness, shifting light and uninterrupted views that change dramatically with the seasons, ripe for adventure.

At its heart is the Arctic Wilderness Lodge, a 24-room luxury retreat with broad glass façades that keep you connected to the landscape. On clear winter nights, you may even see the Northern Lights from your bed.

Each Winter, the World’s Northernmost Igloo Hotel is rebuilt nearby and is a truly unique stay, complete with sculpted ice corridors, frozen suites and intricate artworks of animals carved entirely from snow and ice.

Dining is an integral part of the Sorrisniva experience, with two acclaimed restaurants that focus on refined, seasonal dishes crafted from Arctic ingredients. The menus highlight the region's flavours, complemented by a carefully curated wine cellar.

The surrounding wilderness offers activities year-round. In Winter, you can venture out into the snow by snowmobile, travel through the stillness on a husky sledge and watch the Northern Lights dance across clear night skies.

In summer, helicopters, riverboats and guided hikes open up vast stretches of untouched terrain, with long hours of daylight giving you time to explore Norway's beautiful landscapes at your own pace.

Our accommodation features 17 River Rooms, 5 River Suites, and 2 Dual Room Premium Suites, each designed to offer spectacular views. With panoramic windows stretching from floor to ceiling, you'll enjoy uninterrupted views of the river and Arctic wilderness. Experience the Northern Lights and the beauty of endless summer nights from the comfort of your room.

Sorrisniva is a majestic gateway to arctic wilderness activities and invites you to connect with its virgin landscapes in the most magical ways.

In winter, you can skim across pristine snowfields by snowmobile, reaching viewpoints that are otherwise untouched, or glide through the stillness of the wilderness on a husky sled with only the sound of paws on powder for company. For wellness lovers, you can even dive into the chill of the iced-over Alta river and warm up in the newly designed sauna.

For a different perspective, take to the skies on a helicopter flight and watch the fjords, tundra and winding river valleys unfold beneath you. If you prefer more grounded adventures, the Alta River offers its own sense of calm on a guided riverboat journey.
