Located by Iceland’s Golden Circle in Selfoss, this former inn was built to accommodate workers at the nearby Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Plant. Abandoned, the building was acquired in 2011, after which it was transformed into a bold and sleek boutique hotel.
 
The restoration and construction of the new wing used building methods that exceeded all environmental standards. The hotel stays true to its natural surroundings and its sustainable practices include water-saving showers, fair-trade organic linens, salvaged driftwood and lava and organic soaps from Soley Organics included with bathroom amenities. 
 
The 45 spacious standard and deluxe rooms are modern and offer views across lava fields and towards Thingvellir National Park or Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Plant. Soak in the outdoor spa pool or warm-up at the sauna at the Ion Lava Spa, before indulging in one of the luxe body treatments which incorporate Icelandic nature. 
 
Ion Adventure Hotel is a perfect base from where you can explore this remarkable part of Iceland with a wide variety of experiences and adventures for you to choose from that start at the hotel.

21 modern rooms offering either twin or double beds and views of either Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Plant or towards Thingvellir National Park.
• Optional experiences include horseback riding through dramatic scenery and lava fields or jeep tours to volcanoes, waterfalls and glaciers
• During the winter months watch the natural phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)
• During the summer months we recommend a whitewater river rafting trip along the nearby Hvítá river
