Since opening in 1958, Jamaica Inn has been family-run, building a reputation as a much-loved Caribbean retreat renowned for its understated elegance, warm Jamaican hospitality and secluded stretch of champagne-coloured sand. Set within eight acres of tropical gardens in Ocho Rios, this boutique property has a collection of suites and cottages, each with a private balcony or verandah overlooking the sea.
Life here follows a gentle pace. With no televisions, radios or clocks in the rooms, the emphasis is firmly on switching off and enjoying the simple pleasures of a beachfront stay. Mornings might begin with breakfast served on your private terrace, followed by a swim in the Caribbean Sea or a leisurely afternoon on the sand. The thoughtful touches continue throughout the day, from complimentary Planter’s Punch served on the beach each morning to afternoon tea and evening hors d’oeuvres.
Dining is another highlight, from leisurely lunches at the beachside restaurant to cocktails on the terrace followed by a five-course dinner beneath the stars. For a charming personal touch, the hotel’s resident canine, Shadow V, even has her own cottage.

Boasting a magnificent location on its own private peninsula. Discover Jamaica beyond the beach with a visit to Dunn’s River Falls before the main gates open to the public. Back at the inn, explore the tropical gardens with the head gardener, learn about Jamaica’s rum-making heritage during a Rumology session or forage for natural ingredients to create your own body scrub. The Ocean Spa features a unique saltwater bath set into the cliff face, while Bond on the Beach brings classic films beneath the stars. Other traditions include Saturday croquet accompanied by a glass of rosé. Between July and November, you may also witness hawksbill turtles nesting on the beach or hatchlings making their way to the sea, depending on natural conditions.
