Hotel information
Amanera, or ‘peaceful water’ (derived from ‘aman’, the Sanskrit word for peace and ‘era’, the Taíno word for water), is situated on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, overlooking the ocean and the mile-long Playa Grande Beach whose golden sands make it one of the region’s most beautiful beaches.
Located in 2,170 acres of Caribbean jungle, the tropical climate with average temperatures of 25°C make this resort an attractive base for discovering the lush and tropical environment with experiences such as nature walks, kite-surfing, deep-sea fishing, mountain biking and horse riding. The 25-casita resort has a Beach Club, Lounge Bar, Library, Cigar Lounge, Gym, Tennis Courts and Spa.
Dining at the main restaurant is a special experience, with a menu showcasing Mediterranean, Mexican and Caribbean dishes and seating which makes the most of the beautiful views. Other dining options include the Beach Club, tucked away in a sandy cove on the beach, or one of the exclusive private dining locations offering a romantic setting for special occasions.
The spectacular golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr, who ensured ten of its 18 holes are played on the coastline – more than any other course in the western hemisphere.
The spa at Amanera affords expert therapists to provide a personal journey of balance and restoration; inspired by traditional healing techniques used in the Dominican Republic and locally grown plants, the treatments here are all natural and offer a holistic approach to wellbeing
As you would expect from the Aman group, the accommodation options present contemporary, light-filled spaces in which to relax and kick back. Many have private pools and all benefit from outdoor terraces.
Sustainability Initiatives & Responsible Tourism
Amanera isn't just a luxury destination; it's a haven for conscientious travellers. From tree planting to coral protection and sea turtle preservation, they are the stewards of nature's treasures. Waste and food management are serious business here, with a focus on reducing, reusing, and composting food waste, creating a sustainable circle of nourishment.
Their properties are beacons of efficiency, utilising greywater systems and LED lighting, setting an eco-friendly example for the industry. Amanera also believes in nurturing the next generation of Earth's guardians, with engaging education programs for young guests. And right within the resort's embrace, a thriving organic produce garden takes root, ensuring that every meal is a celebration of local, sustainable goodness.
