The island is a holiday destination of its own, with 12 restaurants, bars, swimming pools and over 65 activities available on or around the island. Whether you are looking to relax and laze around the pools or at the beach, or discover more of the Whitsundays, there’s something to keep holiday makes of all ages and interests entertained. Sail around the uninhabited Whitsunday Islands on a yacht, catamaran or luxury charter motor cruiser stopping to snorkel on the fringing reefs or for a picnic at the pristine Whitehaven Beach. Explore Hamilton Island on foot along one of its self-guided bushwalks, discovering its natural beauty along the way and taking in the magical views from hilltop lookouts. The Whitsunday Islands are the gateway to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef which can be explored by sailing yacht, fast catamaran, semi-submersible, snorkelling or scuba diving. For a bird’s eye perspective take a helicopter or seaplane flight over the reef to discover the true majesty of one of the seven wonders of the natural world.
Hamilton Island offers six different accommodation styles from the simple island-style Palm Bungalows to the adult-only Beach Club. There are the family friendly rooms and suites at Reef View Hotel to the ultra-luxe and exclusive pavilions of qualia. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining and socialising, with 12 restaurants and six bars there is somewhere different to dine every meal of the week. Highlights include fine dining in the elegant surrounds of Bommie Restaurant, delicious fish and chips from Popeyes Takeaway or generous casual pub style meals at Marina Tavern.
Tee off on one of the world’s most spectacular golf courses, set on its very own Dent Island sitting right alongside Hamilton Island. This challenging 18-hole championship course, designed by five time British Open winner Peter Thomson, is surrounded by panoramic Whitsunday views and is a ten-minute ferry crossing from Hamilton Island. For an indulgent day of pampering, Spa wumurdaylin is a peaceful haven offering massage, rejuvenating body treatments and aromatherapy.
